The Scholar's Workstation is an on-campus resource for computer-related hardware, software, peripherals and supply purchases. The Store features products from Apple, Dell, Hewlett Packard-Compaq, IBM, Toshiba, Microsoft, and Adobe, and many others. Products are academically priced, and are available to Cal students, faculty, staff, departments, and approved affiliates.

The Scholar's Workstation is an auxiliary division of Information Systems and Technology, Workstation Support Services.

For computer and operating system support, our Campus Computer Repair and Support unit is available (formerly called WHSG). Services include in- and out-of-warranty repair and operating systems support for Apple, Dell and Lenovo computers.

Note: All Sony Computers have a 1 year limited warranty. If you are within the first year and need service, contact Sony directly at 1-888-476-6972. If you purchased your Sony from retailers such as Best Buy, CompUSA, and Circuit City with additional warranty, you need to contact the retailer where your product was purchased and provide the original purchase receipt.

For HP and Compaq In-Warranty service and support, contact HP at 1-800-474-6863. For Compaq Presario PC products 800-652-6672.

    Toshiba Notebook Battery Pack Recall Program

    Toshiba experienced overheating incidents with certain battery packs installed in certain models of its portable computers. Based on its investigation, Sony Corporation, supplier of the subject batteries, concluded that the situation was caused by the battery packs. The subject battery packs will be replaced free of charge. To determine whether a Toshiba product you own may be eligible for battery pack replacement, please review the list of computer models and accessory battery pack part numbers. Not all battery packs in products listed are eligible for replacement. If you own a product on the list, refer to www.bxinfo.toshiba.com to find more information about the program for your notebooks. Toshiba strongly recommends participation in the Battery Pack Recall Program as soon as possible. This offer extends only to replacement of the subject battery packs and does not include replacement of any Toshiba notebook. Toshiba appreciates your assistance with this program.
